Nicolites Responds to Man Getting Kicked Off Plane for Using Electronic Cigarette

An e-cigarette user who refused to refrain from using his e-cig was kicked off a Continental Airlines flight in Portland earlier this week and could now face a federal charge after refusing to co-operate with the airline staff.

Electronic cigarettes are a big hit with smokers all over the world and one of its biggest selling points other than the obvious health benefits is its ability to be used in public spaces unlike traditional cigarettes. The reason behind this is that as the electric cigarette contains no tobacco and is never lit, it actually circumvents the smoking ban and is harmless to those around them.

However, e cigarette retailers such as Nicolites appreciate that many places still do not allow the use of the electronic cigarette in premises or on board certain airlines.

Birju Pujara, Sales Director for Nicolites, had this to say about the incident:

?Many users of electronic cigarettes purchase them not only for the health benefits but also because they can use them in public areas, however we are and have been aware for some time that many airlines do not allow the use of e-cigarettes on board for some time now. We advise all of our customers that whilst legally speaking they can be used anywhere, they should always check with management before using their device as their own rules may differ. As for the man who was kicked off the plane, from my understanding it was due to his refusal to comply with the requests of the airline staff which actually caused the problem and it is a shame that stories such as this put a electronic cigarettes and the users of them in a bad light.

?It?s true that we believe airlines are the perfect place for electronic cigarettes as many customers we have spoken to refrain from long haul flights due to the inability to smoke; but we also respect their rules and understand that until e-cigarettes are more heard off by the general public, as well as smokers, that this is a hurdle which we still need to overcome?.

Many have questioned the reasons as to why this new phenomenon is yet to be made available on airlines, but Birju can confirm that officials from the e-cigarette industry believe that that it won?t be too long before this decision is changed.

Birju added, ?We have spoken with many duty free airline operators and they are aware of Nicolites and the potential it holds. However, it is something that we plan to work on and we hope that soon enough airlines will be e-cigarette friendly too, but in the mean time, we will continue to recommend our customers to ensure they are allowed to use their Nicolite before they start vaping?.
